Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question about cavity frames? Hopefully you'll find the answers here! If not feel free to get in touch.
1
Do you supply doors?
No. We are a cavity frame manufacturer only and are unable to supply doors.
2
Do you sell direct to the public?
Unfortunately we do not sell directly to the public, rest assured you can still give us a call as we are happy to discuss the cavity frames you require and determine who would be the best reseller for you.
Alternatively, if you contact your local hardware store or timber yard they can get in touch with us with what you need.
3
What are the differences between the ProClip and Summit cavity frames?
Functionally they work the same. Our ProClip cavity frames are what many people would consider a standard frame with a traditional cavity frame bracket screwed into the top rail of the door.
Our Summit cavity frame is a 'Zero Clearance' detail finishing with only a 5mm gap between the door and the track meaning there is no need for a pelmet. Typically the Summit cavity frame is preferred for high end builds or where the unit has a squareset finish.
4
What material do you use in your cavity frames?
Our cavity frames are all made with timber rails/backpost, 2mm rollformed galvanised steel channel and exposed Australian Kiln Dried Hardwood reveals.
5
What stud opening do I need to allow for my frame?
Minimum stud openings depend on a few different factors, for our standard ProClip frames you need to allow:
Door Height + 80
Door Width x 2 (for a cavity with a standard 50mm protrusion) or Door Width x 2 +50 (for a door finishing flush with no protrusion).
For Summit cavity frames and/or non architrave finish frames it is a case by case basis, please call our friendly team on (03) 9000 9255 to discuss.
6
Do you have a fixing option for frameless glass doors?
We do not have a fixing method for frameless glass doors, our cavity frame brackets are designed to be screw fixed or rebated in the top rail of the door. Perfect for timber single lite doors but not applicable for frameless glass doors.
7
What is the biggest cavity frame you can build?
We can build cavity frames to suit up to a 3600mm high and a 2900mm wide single door. However, as cavity frames get both taller and wider we require larger studs to be able to warranty them:
For cavities to suit doors taller than 2700mm and/or wider than 1500mm we require a 120mm stud for warranty purposes.
For cavities to suit doors over 3000mm high and/or 2400mm wide we require a 180mm stud for warranty purposes.
To find out more you can access our warranty here.
8
What's the heaviest door I can use in your cavity frames?
All of our cavity frames come with track and rollers that are rated to 180kgs.
If you order a soft closer we will still ask the weight of the door you are using as we have several gauges of soft closers at different price points.
9
Do you have a soft open device?
Unfortunately we do not, we only have a soft close available.
10
Do you accept returns?
We accept returns of stock cavity frames on the condition that they are in the same condition as when they left our factory
We do not accept returns of any made to order cavity frames.
11
Do your cavity frames come with a warranty?
Yes! All of our cavity frames and parts come with a 10 year warranty free of manufacturing defects as long as they meet our warranty conditions which can be found here,
